I want to use Super 8 film because I have never used it before and it would be a good learning experience. But also because when watching documentaries of a known place a certain sense of nostalgia is conjured up (obviously depending on your experience). I felt this watching London by Patrick Keiller, all the familiar places that I've frequented so many times being shown back to me created a personal connection and a sense of a group that I was a member of.
Here's where I believe I can obtain super 8 film:
THE WIDESCREEN CENTRE
W1U 7ND
02079352580
£57 for digital transfer into a file I can edit in Final Cut Pro
"Vision 500T is a high speed low contrast stock ideal for night shoots. This stock reads light almost like your eyes see, allowing lots of detail in the frame."
or
SOHO FILM LAB
W1F 0EQ
02074688600
The process the film on a Tuesday and transfer it into a digital format. The also stock Kodak vision 2 200T and 500 T film. I will be using the highest light sensitive film which is the 500T.
I will be going there on saturday to pick up the film and the camera from my friend Emilie Lewis.
